One of the pinnacles of the Couture Fashion Week has to have been the Chanel fashion show. With Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid on the catwalk, Karl Lagerfeld showcased the fashion houses’ latest couture offerings in another elaborate show – their absolute signature. This time the nature themed set took 8 days to build and featured a geometric garden made from real grass – why not sure?!?! This theme spilled over into the clothes with dresses embroidered with wood shavings and floral patterns.
Chanel’s classic tweed look remained consistent throughout the first couple of looks, which is nice to see as the label remains true to its roots and the look that shot it to international success many moons ago. I loved the transition then into more colourful and embellished pieces which was really refreshing to see for SS16. If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ll know that I’m an absolute magpie and have a real eye for sparkle so the last couple of looks below really won me over. Feminine and classic, Chanel will always be a winner.
