The Instagram Tag 📲

The Instagram Tag 📲

Hey guys,

The lovely Jodi Roche recently tagged me to do the Instagram tag. For those of you that don’t know Jodi is a self taught make up artist based in Waterford and she is extremely talented! She posts amazing Before & Afters on Facebook & Instagram and does really easy-to-recreate tutorials on Snapchat (liljodibubz) so she’s definitely one to follow if you’re into your MUAs!

I hadn’t heard about the Instagram tag until Jodi shared it but it’s basically a couple of questions all about – you guessed it! – Instagram 😜 So let’s get into it.

  1. What’s your Instagram username?

I tried to keep my social media usernames the same as much as possible so you’ll find me on Instagram as holychic_blog.screen-shot-2016-09-07-at-12-36-31

2. How many times do you post a day?

I try to post at least once a day ☝🏼 Some days it will be twice, if I have something that I feel is really worth posting but any more than that in one day gets really annoying, nobody wants me clogging up their newsfeed, ha ha! 😁 With the new Insta Stories, I try to post something in there daily too but I’m so bad at remembering to do it – I can’t stray away from Snapchat 💔screen-shot-2016-09-07-at-12-39-07

3. What is your most liked post?

I had to do some investigation in to this one but Iconosquare informed me that this image of Eva Longoria at the Cannes Film Festival is my most liked post. I love to cover red carpet events as they happen on my blog so I was sharing my favourite looks on the celebs at this years festival. Eva wore a Pamela Rolland gown on one of the first nights and she actually liked this post on my Instagram – surreal!! 😍screen-shot-2016-09-07-at-12-14-13

4. How many posts do you have on Instagram?

Right now I have 558 posts so that’s not very many. I’ve had an Instagram for my blog for about 10 months now but on my personal Instagram that I’ve used for years, I have nearly 2,000 posts – I’ve always been an Insta Addict! 😂screen-shot-2016-09-07-at-12-37-48

5. Out of all the filters on Instagram, what’s your favourite?

I used to be mad about the filters but now I don’t use them at all. Instead I focus on capturing good quality images first of all and then I use the edit function on Instagram to bring up the brightness, warmth or structure instead. I just feel like the filters look so obvious now and I don’t like that look. Editing the shadows or highlights make more of an impact for me 😄cameras-filters-funny-instagram-favim-com-1262381

6. Whats your favourite image that you’ve captured?

My Instagram is a real mix of photos I’ve taken on my camera/iPhone or images I’ve found online and reposted so if we’re talking solely about photographs I’ve caught myself, it’s hard as I either post selfies, products or food 😋 I try to keep my personal snaps on my private Instagram but every so often I’ll post something with my friends and family. My favourite image is probably this one of me and Chloe. It’s a throwback from when she modelled in my Fashion Show for Glitterati Boutique and when we attended the Irish Beauty Blog Awards together. I always look like a bag of sh*te standing next to her because she’s drop dead gorgeous but it’s the memories behind these photos that stand out to me. Best friends from the beginning and always there for each other – watch out for us world 😉😘👭screen-shot-2016-09-07-at-10-36-20

7. Do you use a camera or phone to take photos?

Up until recently I was only using my iPhone 5S for my Instagram posts but the quality isn’t great in that camera, it’s so old now! Now you’ll see a mixture of camera and phone images on my feed as I’ve bought the Olympus Pen E-PL7 camera and holy sh*t, was it worth it!! My images are so much better now and the quality is much clearer. It was a sound investment 👌🏼 screen-shot-2016-09-07-at-12-40-12

8. Do you edit your pictures?

I sure do and I don’t believe anyone that says they don’t 😂 Every picture on my Instagram is edited with an app called Squaready which I use to get the white border around them as I like the look that a square, framed profile gives on Instagram, it looks much neater. Sometimes if I have an image that isn’t originally square shaped but I don’t want to crop it and loose some of the detail, I will use the Instagram app Layout to make collage instead, like below. Another good app is PhotoMirror which gives the mirrored effect to photos. I’ll use this if I have a full length image that I don’t want to crop to the square size. As I mentioned above, I don’t necessarily use filters but I use the Edit function on Instagram to manually filter images instead 👌🏼

9. Who is your favourite Instagram user?

There are literally too many to mention 🙈 I love any Instagram that I can get fashion inspiration from, I love seeing how people interpret trends and show off their own style! A couple of my favourites are Emma Hill, Aoibhe Devlin, Antoinette Marie, Monica Rose, Niamh Doherty, Jade.visuals, Janice Joostema, Thessy & Yiota, Lauren Bejaoui, Truffle – see the list could go on & on!!

10. What’s the first picture you uploaded?

Very simple; the first picture I uploaded on the Holy Chic account was the image I use as my avatar on most accounts.

Thanks Jodi for tagging me, it’s always nice to post something that is a bit different every now and then! If you have any questions about my Instagram that I didn’t answer in this post, make sure to comment below or get me on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter or Snapchat 👌🏼
