Out With The Old, In With The New Year

Happy New Year Dolls! 🎉 I’ve said this a lot over the last couple of days but I really can’t believe that it’s 2017 already. The last 12 months were a rollercoaster for me – there were plenty of highs and new opportunities that I embraced. But with the peaks, come the troughs and there were some tough times in 2016 that I’m glad to be leaving in the past. Although the holidays were busy for me working in retail, I enjoyed the time that I could spend with my family and close friends, hence why my blog was a bit quieter than usual. For me, that’s what the holidays are all about – quality time with loved ones.

I also spent time reflecting on everything that I achieved in 2016. Sometimes we are so focused on future goals and where we want to get to that we forget to give ourselves a pat on the back for how far we’ve come. I passed my 2nd year of college with flying colours, I changed jobs again and I smashed so many of the goals that I set for myself last January. I attended lots of different blog-related events and have made some friends for life from those. It was brilliant to spend time in the company of likeminded people and that is probably one of my favourite things about blogging.

New Years Eve

On Saturday night I had made plans to head out on the town with 2 of my best and oldest friends. We got ready together and had a couple of drinks before heading in to D Bar in Enniscorthy. It was nice to have a bit of a catch up after the Christmas and who better to get ready with than your girlfriends, telling you what looks good on and having a giggle, it puts you in great form to head out!

We met the guys in town and had such a fun night! The music in D Bar is a bit old school so, (if you saw my Snapchat you’ll already know), we were all loving it, belting out all the tunes and of course then at 12 bells we rang in 2017 together. I’m very lucky to have such a good, fun group of friends and whenever we get together it’s the best time, even if that is less often than when we were younger. When you’re working and travelling and life just gets in the way, catching up with one another is more seldom but when we do get together, it’s like we were together all along!

What I Wore

Earlier in the week I was in a bit of a panic wondering if my Missguided order would arrive on time but luckily it did and I had a couple of pieces to mix and match. I had an outfit on and then at the last minute I changed my mind and opted for something else instead. I was so glad afterwards that I did change because I was much more comfortable in this 2 piece outfit and the colours were more suitable for this time of year.

The tan I’m wearing is the Bellamianta Tinted Lotion which I looove for nights out as it gives a deep, dark, olive toned colour and it wears really well! You can read my full review of both their lotion and mousse here. A couple of people on Snapchat also asked me about my lashes which were the SoSu Lashes in the style Chloe – most pharmacies stock them or you can purchase them online here.  There is also a matching clutch bag for the heels which I bought too as they would make a great combination for a wedding or function so it’s nice to have the pair.

Looking Forward This Year

There is so much to look forward to this coming year and I really think that it is what you make it. I know that there are some things that are out of our control but I believe that what you put out comes back to you and if you put enough positive thought and self belief behind your goals, combined with damn good hard work, they are bound to happen for you. Like almost everyone, I’ll try to eat a little healthier and spend a little less on luxuries this year but overall I’ll be concentrating more on smashing more goals and getting to where I want to be.

In a fortnight I’ll be heading back to W.I.T for my last semester in college and with a bit of luck I’ll graduate in October so that is something big to look forward to already. I want to focus on building Holy Chic and improving everything that goes on in the background of the website to have it running in tip top shape. I’ve taught myself a lot about running a website in the last year but theres much more to learn so I plan on embracing that whole element of blogging over the coming months too.
