My Kind of VIP Event at Coast Kilmore Quay

My Kind of VIP Event at Coast Kilmore Quay

VIP Magazine is an Irish publication that I have long adored. I remember my Mam would buy it regularly when I was only a little girl and when she was finished reading it I would flick through the pages admiring the style of those within. Even now, in the age where social media has taken over, I still enjoy picking up a copy of VIP. Most recently, while scanning the pages of their February issue, I noticed an advert for a readers event they would be hosting and where else, only in County Wexford?! It happened to fall during my holidays from work so I thought it would be something lovely to do with my Mam who had introduced me to VIP all those years ago. So on February 21st we enjoyed the fashion and fun at the My Kind of VIP event in The Coast, Kilmore Quay.

Upon arrival, the bar of the newly renovated hotel was packed with groups of women, all dolled up to the nines, eagerly awaiting the opening of the doors to the function room. The vino was flowing and everyone was eyeing up each others style as there would be a prize worth €250 for the best dressed duo. When the doors opened, we were greeted with prosecco, hors d’oeuvres and chocolate; the way to a woman heart, right?! The seats arranged around the catwalk and demo area quickly filled up and Serena from VIP Magazine took to the top of the room to introduce everyone and get the evening underway.

Holos Skincare

The first of 3 demonstrations was with Niamh Hogan, the creator of Holos Skincare. You may already be familiar with the brand as Niamh is a local Wexford woman who brought her venture to Dragons Den in 2016. Holos is a natural, organic, plant-based aromatherapy skincare range. The products are suitable for all ages, from teens to mature skin, and some products are even suggested for use during pregnancy. There’s a lovely selection of products within the Holos range which you can browse in full on the website here.  Niamh brought us back to the basics of good skincare and how prevention is essentially better than cure when it comes to anti-aging. The focus here is all about skin health. Her talk was interesting because she really defined good skincare and kind of reminded us to look at the products we use and first of all ask, is it necessary? And then seek multiple ways to use that product.

This is where the idea for Holos’s new This Is More range stemmed from. Niamh wants to share with you all of the different ways that just one product can be used – ‘more simplicity, more functionality and more fun’. There are 3 products in this particular collection – a Cleansing Makeup Removal Oil, a Facial & Eye Serum and the Get Better Butter. Niamh was so kind as to gift me with the Get Better Butter, something I know I’ll benefit from using as my skin is more on the dry side, (especially after that awful snow!), and it has such a variety of functions, it’s a must-have! Like I mentioned, there’s much more to Holos than just these 3 products so I would definitely suggest checking out the website.

BPerfect Cosmetics with Brendan & Jade

Another Dragons Den success story is without a doubt BPerfect Cosmetics, an Irish cosmetics brand created by Brendan McDowellBrendan’s mission was to create a range of cosmetics that are easy to use, versatile and change your cosmetic routine. I’ve been using BPerfect Cosmetics for over a year now and I can confirm that they do exactly that! To begin with, Brendan demonstrated how easy it is to use their 10 Second Tan. It also comes in a Dark Watermelon shade but on the model, Medium Coconut was the shade used. It was clear to see the colour instantly develop and how flawless the tan applied using the BPerfect tanning mitt. Brendan gave us a great tip for tanning your hands using a foundation brush and mixing some moisturiser with the 10 Second Tan for an easy application and even development.

BPerfect Cosmetics

In 2017 BPerfect launched a makeup palette in collaboration with MUA Louise McDonnell, better known as LMD. So local makeup artist Jade Mullett was on hand to demonstrate a look for us using the Master Palette and some other BPerfect products, namely the Concealer and Highlighter Pen and Semi Permanent Brow Kit. The palette itself, (pictured below), is extremely versatile, featuring 12 eyeshadows, a highlight shade, contour and blush all in one handheld palette. I actually have been using this palette since Christmas and I adore it; I find it super handy for travelling with as everything you need is in one. It was really great to see what way Jade used it and it gave me inspiration for a new makeup look to create with it. I’ve raved about Jade on my blog before – she is extremely talented and no matter how many times I see her demo, I’ll always pick up some new tips from her. The finished look was bronzed and glowing, absolutely stunning – I’m sorry I don’t have a close up pic!

I will be chatting about the BPerfect products in more detail on my blog very soon but the products genuinely are fantastic quality. They’re reasonably priced and are available in pharmacies nationwide including Sam McCauley’s and Shaws Department Stores.

Shopping and Prosecco

During a short interval we had the opportunity to browse the pop up shops which included Holos Skincare, BPerfect Cosmetics and a selection of the clothes that My Kind of Dress stock. There was a prosecco bar and time to chat with the entrepreneurs that had been demonstrating. Then it was time for the big finale…

My Kind of Dress

We were treated to a fashion show featuring style from an online Irish retailer, My Kind of Dress. I wasn’t familiar with this site until this event but oh my God, was I delighted to have found them. The fashion show displayed their best wears, from more casual looks to date night, a special occasion or something more formal. My Kind of Dress stock separates as well as stunning dresses, jumpsuits and delicate hair accessories. Every single piece that came to the catwalk was just fabulous, with such a variety of colours and styles to suit every taste.

What I couldn’t get over was the price point!! Everything was under €90, with some dresses retailing for just €35 and €40. Usually at that price, the quality is compromised but having had the chance to see the dresses up close and personal on the night, I can confirm the quality is just as fabulous as the fashion!

Irish Fashion

My Kind of Dress ship to Ireland and the UK and offer free delivery on orders over €50. As the season for communions, confirmations and weddings is in full swing, I would definitely recommend this as a site to browse for that special outfit. You can see all the looks featured on the night here.

Overall, it was a wonderful evening…

There were spot prizes given out throughout the evening and a prize for the Best Dressed Duo. We left with fab goodie bags as well as lots of fashion and beauty inspiration. Sometimes I think it’s just nice to take an evening off, go to an event like this, get glammed up and just zone out from the hustle and bustle of life for a couple of hours. My mam and I definitely enjoyed it and I think the VIP team did an amazing job organising it. Huge thanks to the hosts VIP Magazinethe venue Coast Kilmore Quay and the businesses that took part; Holos Skincare, BPerfect Cosmetics and My Kind of Dress. Keep an eye on VIP Magazine for more reader events taking place around the country soon, gather the girls and enjoy!
