Bellamianta Tan Review

Bellamianta Tan Review

Happy August dolls!!

Can you believe it’s August already, I really don’t know where this year is flying away to! I celebrated my 22nd birthday yesterday on the 31st of July – I love that it falls on the Bank Holiday weekend as it gives me a chance to get away or make proper plans as I’m not working 🎉 Thanks also for all of the kind birthday wishes some of you guys sent me on Snapchat and Facebook – you’re very sweet! Speaking of Snapchat, during the week I mentioned that I had been trialling a couple of different tans recently and wanted you to screenshot the one you wanted a review on. Bellamianta was the brand with the most screenshots and I tried it out again over the weekend.

Bellamianta is a relatively new tan to the market which is based and made in Tyrone in Northern Ireland. It shot to fame most recently after Suzanne Jackson from SoSueMe.ie and make up artist extraordinaire Tara O’Farrell  both shared online that it was the tan they had been using. Both of their pictures online looked as though they had just been back from the best foreign holiday ever and needless to say, Bellamianta sold out in stockists across the country for weeks! There are currently 2 tans in the range, the Rapid Mousse (Dark) and the Self Tanning Lotion (Medium) and I have tried both so I’ll split this review in two. Before I get into it properly I just want to point out that I haven’t been paid to write this review, it’s just my honest, genuine opinion on the products 👌🏼

Bellamianta Rapid Mousse

The mousse was the first of the two tans that I tried after I got my hands on a bottle of it in Sam McCauleys, Redmond Square in Wexford. To begin with, the tan was €24.99 so I would consider it to be a luxury range of tan but after using it a couple of times now I can say that the price tag is totally justified.

Application: I applied it using a double sided velvet mitt which I find works best for me, I didn’t feel the need to buy the Bellamianta one in particular. The smell of the tan is incredible, I actually love it. It smells like essential oils so it’s not sweet or the typical ‘false’ tan smell, it’s actually really soothing. The ingredients include mango, papaya and goji berry extracts so I think that is what’s coming through in the scent too. The mousse glides on really easily and there’s a great colour in it so you can use that as a guide to ensure that you’ve covered every inch and that there are no streaks. They say it dries in 60 seconds which is really handy as you don’t need to stand like scarecrow in your bathroom waiting to dry off and get dressed 😂 It definitely dries that quickly but I found that this meant that I had to work a little bit quicker when applying it, I was really buffing the product on to my skin.

Straight after application – amazing colour!

Development & Wear: The colour is really deep, dark and beautiful, a gorgeous golden olive tone that it describes on the bottle and it is ready to wear. I have been known to wear it and head off straight away. You know the way some developing tans will start to gather in certain places if you don’t rinse them off after the recommended time, well Bellamianta doesn’t so it’s a ready to wear colour. The guide on the box says to allow it to develop for 2 hours for a light colour, 3 hours for medium and 4+ hours for a dark colour and I have to say that’s pretty spot on. I usually leave it on for the 4+ hours and I am left with the dark olive tone that I mentioned above.

After a shower the colour won’t transfer on to anything at all and the colour is just so rich and your skin is totally bronzed. The fruit extracts that I listed above help create the olive tone by working with the skins natural melanin. Like with any tan that you wear, it will begin to fade on the areas that are in the most contact with say your shoes or your watch – at the end of the day, it’s a false tan, not magic! The ingredients also include Hyaluronic Acid which helps to moisturise your skin and I didn’t find that my skin dried out during the time I wore it. Because of that, the tan wore off quite evenly and it didn’t go patchy at all. There are no parabens or harsh chemicals in the tan either 👌🏼

You can see how dark my legs are in this picture 👌🏼

Recommendations: The Bellamianta Rapid Mousse is the one for you if you want a really dark colour that will last up to a week long. It’s my go to for a night out or special occasion because I know that I’ll be really dark, sometimes I’ll even give my legs a second coat of it, (as in the picture above) as tan generally doesn’t come up as dark on your legs. Let’s face it, who doesn’t want to look like they’ve just been on a 6 month holiday in the Tropics?! Well if you don’t, the Tinted Lotion may be more to your liking..

Bellamianta Self Tanning Tinted Lotion

I was so kindly gifted the lotion by Bernadine from Sweet Style Wise but it generally retails at €19.99 for the 200ml bottle which is 50mls more than the mousse so in my opinion the lotion is better value for money!

Application: As with the mousse, I used a double sided velvet tanning mitt to apply the lotion. The consistency is a lot thicker than the mousse, it’s almost a gel like consistency and it spreads really well and evenly. There is a good colour guide again but just a little bit lighter than the mousse. You can feel the lotion nourishing and moisturising your skin from the get go, it’s so silky smooth. You don’t need to use a lot of the lotion either which you will notice when it develops over the 2-4 hours. When tanning areas like the feet, hand, elbows and knees I don’t apply any lotion to the mitt, I just skim them with whatever product is left on the mitt as you don’t want those areas to come up too dark. Too much product on the mitt can ruin your application so remember that a little goes a long way!13086852_1823451537795207_3548325582680281734_o

Development & Wear: The lotion has the same development guide as the mousse so 2 hours for a lightest colour, 3 for medium and 4+ for a darkest colour but remember that the shade is medium so obviously the overall colour will be lighter than the mousse and more suitable for a natural looking tan. The lotion wears off really well and I had a lovely tan for up to 10 days after applying it. Again, there are no parabens or harsh chemicals in the product so it’s really gentle on your skin but as with any tan, maintenance is key so I made sure to keep my skin hydrated and moisturised with a dry oil to prolong the life of the tan.

Dodgy candid photo but it just shows the colour and flawless finish of the tan

Recommendations: I use the tan as my ‘weekday’ tan and top up my colour with the mousse for the weekend as the colour of the lotion is much more natural. If you don’t like to be too dark and like a natural glow, the Bellamianta Tinted Lotion would be more up your street.

Final Thoughts

Bellamianta is the epitome of luxury tanning for the deepest, darkest colour you can imagine! I say this because it may be a bit more expensive than the other tans that sit with it on the shelves of your local pharmacy but the results speak for themselves and in my opinion, it’s worth every cent! The overall colour, the longevity of the wear you get out of it and the fact that it smells Uh-Mazing tick all the boxes for me! Linda, who is the Director of Bellamianta recently mentioned to me that there are new products on the way so I’m super excited to see what they are!! Hi Danielle – unfortunately Bellamianta don’t have their own moisturiser yet so instead I go between 2 products. First is the Tan Organic Multi Use Dry Oil which glides onto your skin, is very nourishing and smells incredible. You can also use this as a treatment on your nails and hair or in the bath.
Other times I will use the Crazy Angel ‘Supreme Goddess’ Tan Extender – this is a gorgeous, creamy moisturiser that is paraben free and feels so luxurious. You can read more about that one here – https://holychic.ie/2016/10/28/crazy-angel-review/

I hope that answers your question & thanks for reading 😄✨

Hi Olly – with the tinted lotion I would recommend showering it off. I usually leave it on over night and shower the following morning, so roughly 9-10 hours, for the darkest colour. You can shower after 4 hours but the colour will be lighter, so for a more natural tan 🙂 Hope that answers your question 🙂

    Hello
I enjoyed your review and the picture really make the tan look lovely but I’ve a wedding coming up and I’ve been recommended to use this tan I would prefer the mousse but just wondering to would it be best to put it on that morning or night before and then have a shower in the morning? 😊 thank you

Hi Emma, thanks for taking the time to read my review, Bellamianta is one of my favourite tans!! I would definitely recommend the mousse for the occasion and would apply the night before the wedding, allowing it to develop overnight. The morning of the wedding, shower as normal and allow the colour guide to wash off. You should be left with a gorgeous glowing tan for the next couple of days – just make sure to moisturise regularly for it to wear off evenly 😄

Hey, I’m just wondering how the tinted lotion would last while on Holidays? I am someone who would be in and out of the pool! Would the tinted lotion stay good or would it go patchy? I would be willing to top it up every night or two 🙂
