Depop: E-commerce made easy!

Hey guys,

If you follow me on Snapchat (UN – holychic_blog) you’ll know that over the weekend I was photographing clothes to share on the popular Depop app. I then spent Tuesday editing them and uploading the content to my profile, a full time job in itself 😂So thankfully now everything is live and there are some stunning dresses ready to go to new loving homes 😊 You can find me on Depop by simply searching for @denisebrophy

What I had featured on my page was a bit of a mixed bag of items, from casual wear to shoes, dresses and boots but over the weekend I got better snaps of the remaining dresses from my designer dress hire venture Glitterati Boutique. I set up Glitterati in 2012 and have seen some of the most beautiful dresses come through my doors in the 3 years I owned the business. It goes without saying that some were in no state to sell on, that’s just the risk you take with a dress hire business, but there are some stunners that I have added to Depop for a fraction of their original price. Depop is fantastic for finding designer gems at a bargain basement price!

Stunning Gowns

If you have a debs or grad coming up this year, the likes of these dresses would be perfect for the occasion. I would say a majority of my customers in the 3 years were debutants and dress hire is more and more becoming the thing to do for debs. It’s a realistic option for young girls who want that high end, designer look without the crazy price tag. This grecian inspired dress is by Dresscode and gives you a beautiful shape as it nips you in at the waist. The soft peplum is a nice touch and the train looks just stunning from behind as you walk. Was €420, now €140 plus postage.Leanne-Hore-COntestant-for-Rose-of-Tralee-20141-600x803

Something a bit more ‘wow’ is this ombrè sequined dress by Jovani. This v-neck gown has a criss-cross back and is another dress with a beautiful train. There are thousands of sequins on this dress so it catches the light perfectly. Was €360, now €110 plus postage

This last dress is more traditional for the occasion with the block blue colour and one shoulder detail. The accent of silver beneath the bust means you can accessorize with silver jewellery and this dress comes with a matching chiffon wrap. Was €280, now €90 plus postage

Glamorous Dresses

A good cocktail dress is an absolute neseccity in any woman’s wardrobe, I know I have an endless amount of them anyway! 🙈😁They will see you through every eventuality, whether it’s the afters of a wedding or a night out. This hot pink dress is one of my favourites – the eye catching colour and figure hugging fit make a great combination. This particular bandage material actually has spandex in it so there’s a good stretch in it and it holds you in all the right places! Was €120, now €40 plus postage

Rachel Gilbert is an outstanding designer and her dresses are works of art in themselves. I fell in love with this gold number the minute I saw it. Lexi is a strapless mini dress that’s completely embellished with thousands of sequins. It’s also fully lined and the bodice is boned for support. I also have this dress available in matte black and there are a couple of other Rachel Gilbert designs on my Depop. Was €480, now €85 plus postageIMG_1025

Finally, this Jovani gown is the pièce de résistance! The nude lining lies under a lace bodice which has tiny diamontes scattered throughout it and the feathered skirt is just utter fabulousness. It’s backless and knee length and I actually had a customer that wore it as her dress to the afters of her wedding, so it was perfect for that occasion or for a hen-do either 😉 I also have a black version available on Depop. Was €320, now €90 plus postage

Working in fashion retail, I’ve definitely noticed the shift to online shopping over the years and how the internet has brought a whole new audience to boutiques that might have taught that they could never reach that far. Social media was my number one method of advertising when I ran Glitterati Boutique and the one that generated the most revenue as well so I can appreciate how apps like Depop are sky rocketing and allow for a new generation of ‘shops’ to develop without physical surroundings. It’s unbelievable to think that now all you need to sell clothes is an iPhone and decent 3G! The free app has been downloaded over 3 million times which means countless items have been sold since it launched in 2011.

😂😂😂

I’ll be updating my Depop as often as possible with some of my own pieces as well so don’t forget to follow @denisebrophy 👗 The prices are rock bottom compared to what they would have once retailed for as I need everything gone 😂😂😉 As always, you can pop questions in the comment section below or catch me on Facebook, Instagram or Twitter 😘

Love, Denise x
