Hey dolls,
Oh what a night we had last night!! Myself and Chloe from It’s a Clo Thing attended the 2nd Annual Irish Beauty Blog Awards in Lillies Bordello, Dublin. Both Chloe and I were long listed in the Best Fashion Blog category and I was on the long list for Best Newcomer. We were listed with some amazing, established Irish bloggers so unfortunately we didn’t make it to the short list but we had said regardless of the outcome, we’d go along to the awards. I’m so glad now that we did as we had a fantastic time and met some great people.
There was a huge turn out and the #IBBA16 trended number one in Ireland on Twitter yesterday which is phenomenal! Between all of the bloggers there on the night we had a combined following of 5.1 million people! Oh My God, like I still can’t get over that statistic, it’s a massive reach from just one industry 😱I finally met Aoibhe Devlin from The Secret Obsession in person which was a long time coming 😄 Aoibhe and I have been chatting on social media for the longest time and the opportunity to meet up just never arose until last night! She’s a gas woman and has the best sense of humour and style of course 😉 I also finally met Marie Barry-Murphy who writes The BeautMum and wow, she is one hot momma! Such a little doll & we had a great chat about all things blogging, that woman is amazing – you need to follow her on snapchat too (mariebmurphy10).
The Mullett sisters are a genuine force of glam nature too, I always love meeting the girls! Laura hosted the awards alongside Keith Walsh from 2FM, while Jade was short listed in the Best Make Up Artist category and Kim was on hand as an all round fabulous little doll 💖
We were greeted with a champagne reception and sweet treats were provided by Glenisk and Jen’s Couture Cakes. Drinks were flowing all night thanks to the Dingle Distillery. Lillies was wonderfully decorated by the main sponsors Tan Organic – there was a tropical, beachy feel to the decor and the tunes had us all in the summer mood! We received an unbelievable goodie bag too and we were really spoiled with the products in it!
It’s also important to mention that the event was in support of Breast Cancer Ireland and before the winners were announced, a representative of the charity took to the stage to say a few words. The facts we were presented with really hit home, like the fact that 1 in 9 Irish women will be affected by breast cancer or that 2500 new cases are diagnosed annually. The good news was that there is an increasing survival rate and it just reminded me to keep everything checked, especially as I get older. All of the proceeds from ticket sales were donated to the charity so it was great to see such a huge turnout for them!

What I Wore
My look last night was a mixture of high street and designer. I loved the shape of this wrap skirt that I bought just last week and thought that it was a change from my usual style and a lovely pop of colour now that we’re in the summer season. I found it hard to get a top that was a good match with it but thank God for Put A Bow On It in Enniscorthy! Aoife came to my rescue at the last minute with this gorgeous embellished crop top by TFNC London and the bronze embellishment toned beautifully with the strong colour of the skirt. Aoife stocks the trendiest clothes and most unique shoes and accessories, her boutique is a treasure trove of fabulous wears so make sure to Like the Facebook page to stay up-to-date with what she has in store!

My Glam
The amazing Danielle Chin did my make up for the event. I’ve been to Danielle a couple of times in the past and she always does a great job, I just sit back in the make up chair and let her work her magic. Danielle is based in Wexford town and you can contact her through her Facebook page here.
Last but by no means last, I wanted to thank Amanda and Noelle and all of the organisers and sponsors for the fantastic night we enjoyed last night! Congratulations to the winners and nominees, it’s great to see the blogging industry recognised and to have the chance to meet like-minded people in an informal setting, where we could all relax and have those girly chats over a few cocktails! I’m already looking forward to next year 😉Love, Denise x
