For the first of my gifting guides this Christmas I’m going to focus on some ideas for Kris Kringle. I do this every year with my group of close friends and it’s great as there are 6 of us, so instead of worrying about 5 different gifts, we’re able to create a special gift for one friend. It’s such a popular way of gifting for Christmas in the workplace, within a group of friends or family now too so for this guide I’ve set the price limit to a reasonable €30 but you can tweak the ideas for a variety of budgets too 😄
Bellamianta Essential Oil Candle
Like I mentioned in my review, one of my favourite things about the Bellamianta range of tanning products is their signature bergamot essential oil scent – oh my God, it really is incredible and has to be experienced by everyone! Lisa and Linda have just recently launched their candle which encapsulates the stunning scent I’m talking about and it is beautifully presented in the white and gold box. I think this would be a lovely gift for someone who deserves some relaxation and a little bit of ‘me-time’ during the holidays.
The candle retails for £20, (roughly €23.60), on the Bellamianta website.
The Ultimate Selfie Kit
For a friend that loves their selfies or is constantly on Snapchat, this selfie kit would be a novelty gift. The queen of selfies herself, Kim Kardashian has listed ‘amazing’ lighting as one of her top tips to taking the perfect selfie so a light up phone case is a must! I have a Lumee case and I love it, it’s super handy but Homestore and More now have their own Illuminated Phone Cases in 3 different colours, grey, gold and rose gold, for both the iPhone 5 and iPhone 6.
Now that lighting is ticked off the list, a little bit of help from the selfie fan will ensure that every selfie is on fleek. Urban Outfitters come to the rescue here so not only will you look like a Victorias Secret model with your fabulous locks blowing in the wind, but it will cool you down on hot days too 😜 It’s a win-win!
It would be an utter disaster if your battery died mid-selfie so these power banks from Penneys are a must-have! I have 3 of them myself and they’re great battery packs to have in your bag and they hold a good charge. The illuminated case retails for €9.99, the selfie fan retails at €9 and the power banks are just €9 too so for €27.99 you’ll have a gift that any selfie queen would adore!
Bits & Bobs for the Desk
It seems like having an aesthetically pleasing desk is so en vogue right now, with copious amounts of marble and rose gold, and if that desk is pine wood circa 2000, you had best get the white paint at it, STAT! From time to time I get asked about the light up letters that are in the background of my snaps in my room. They’re from my 21st birthday but I think they would be a cute gift idea, especially if you don’t know exactly what the persons taste is – you can’t go wrong with one of these for their initials. The battery operated light up letters are just €14.99 each from the Arts n Hobby shops nationwide or online here.
To accompany the letter, no dream desk is complete without some coffee table books 😉 My current favourite is Pippa O’Connors ‘Simple Tips to Live Life Beautifully’. I was very kindly gifted this by Pippa ahead of the book launch in September and it is bursting full of practical tips and tricks, it’s very easy to read and you would dip in and out of it time and time again. Easons currently have it on offer for just €16.99 on their website here meaning that this combination comes in just ever so slightly over budget at €31.98.
You could always substitute the book for something else that you know will suit the recipients taste best, a journal or a 2017 diary is always a good option. The Dotty Lemon and My Shining Armour are two online stores that carry a stunning selection of stationary and they’re both Irish which makes it even nicer to support a local business!
If your Kris Kringle loves their make up and beauty bits, then this next idea may be ideal for them. You could put together a miniature hamper filled with some beauty essentials which would be achievable with any budget, from €5 to €50! Penneys would be my first port of call as you could pick up a lovely little make up bag like this striped one for just €4, then add some neutral make up that would suit any skin tone or colouring, like the P.S. Super Sculpt strobing stick which looks divine and is just €3.50. They say the eyes are the window to the soul, so you could add in the P.S. Nudes eyeshadow compact which contains 9 shadows and comes in two shades for just €2.50. To apply the shadows, Penneys have this dainty little smokey eye brush kit for €4 and I’m never without the P.S Individual Eyelashes, you can create a natural or dramatic look by layering these lashes and they’re just €1.50 per pack.
For the lips, the P.S. Lip Liner is great to have in your handbag and is a nice, creamy consistency, also priced at €1.50 and the Matte Lip Crayon is a gorgeous pinky nude shade which would suit a majority of people and is just €2. I love the Penney’s false nails, they’re actually extremely good and long lasting so they’re great to pop on for the weekend. They come in a variety of finishes and are also just €1.50.
This example comes to just €20 but you can tailor this sort of gift idea to any taste and any budget, you don’t have to stick to Primark goods either but don’t we all love a bit of Penneys 😜 The New Look beauty range is also very good and they have make up, accessories, make up bags, brush sets and fragrances too or your local pharmacy would be a treasure trove of goodies for you to compile the perfect mini hamper – just remember that presentation is key here. Don’t just bum everything into the make up bag, present them nicely and maybe wrap the bag in some clear cellophane wrap with a pretty bow 🤗
I spotted this idea on Pinterest recently and it is a brilliant one for Kris Kringle especially, as most of the time you may not know who you’re buying for very well.
Lidl have this gorgeous ‘Treviso’ Prosecco, pictured below, in their stores and it’s only around €8 or €9 and the 24 piece trays of Ferreor Rocher are on offer in Tesco at the minute for €8 so that’s a really cute, novel idea for just €17! Like with the Beauty Bargains idea, just add some cellophane and a bow and you’re good to go! 😉
All prices listed exclude delivery & related charges but most of the items can be picked up in a store near to you. If you want any help with variations on these ideas, please don’t hesitate to message me in the comments below or on Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat or Instagram.
