Welcome back to my Christmas Gift Guide series of blog posts. My first one was full of Kris Kringle gift inspiration, (you can read it here), and it got a great reception so I’m really pleased that you got some ideas from it 😄 This post is all about gifting the special ladies in your life – whether that’s your mam, sister, aunt, niece, friend or partner, whoever she may be, there are a variety of ideas in this post.
We all know someone who is really in to their fashion, they’re your go-to person when you need some styling advice or someone to hit the shops with. The new SoSu by SJ fashion collection by Suzanne Jackson has literally just launched and I have already spied a couple of pieces in it that are really classic and versatile, like this blazer which comes in both red and black. It’s a piece that you would have in your wardrobe forever and it would look as stylish over jeans as it would with a stunning dress. There are faux fur stoles and gilets in her collection too that would make really lovely gifts, you can’t go wrong with that type of accessory. Prices range from €20 to €60 and the collection is live to shop on her website sosubysj.com just in time for Christmas!
Something really special for a true fashionista would be this Saint Laurent gold-tone brooch. It’s an absolutely timeless accessory and you could add it to any outfit as a stunning finishing touch, it’s something that you would treasure forever and could pass down through the generations too. It is obviously a pricier gift, at €245 but it is definitely for someone who appreciates designer fashion and is deserving of such a stunning gift!
It can obviously be hard to buy clothes for people at Christmas so jewellery is always a great option. The right pieces can completely change an outfit and what was once a drab, lifeless look, comes alive with the addition of a fabulous necklace or statement pair of earrings. La Bella Vita is an Irish business based in Co.Wexford that has a great variety of gift ideas including jewellery, diaries and art prints. I was recently sent some gorgeous pieces from their jewellery collection including the Sonia earrings. Each piece is given its own name so you can easily accessorise by pairing a necklace together with its matching bracelet, like the Edith and Erika sets, or the Esther necklace with its matching earrings. With jewellery starting at €12, there’s something for everyone on LaBellaVita.ie 💖
When it comes to beauty and make up there is just so much to choose from nowadays and it’s hard to know what really works or is worth the money. I wanted to feature some items that I feel are really good value but at the same time, work really well! Starting with the skin; I’ve picked the Lancome Energie De Vie gift set. I bought this gift set for myself a couple of weeks ago in Sam Mc Cauleys after trailing the Energie De Vie moisturiser samples for a while. I just love how lightweight and refreshing this moisturiser is and it seemed to really agree with my skin 👍🏼 The gift set retails at €39 and includes a sample of the Hypnose mascara, (which is also amazing), and the 15ml tub of the Energie De Vie night mask, (this would last you ages as you only need to use the teeniest bit!) I just think this is a bargain as the 30ml moisturiser costs €39 on its own anyway, so you’re basically getting 2 more goodies for free!
As ye may know from all of the tanning reviews I’ve written on Holy Chic, I know a thing or two about false tans 🙊 Recently I treated myself to the Vita Liberata Body Blur which is an instant HD skin finish tan, basically like a foundation for your legs and I have to say, I love it – I love the smell of it, the consistency and the flawless finish it gives with an ever so slight shimmer throughout!! So when I spotted this gift set on Meaghers.ie I added it to my own Christmas Wish List straight away as the Body Blur on it’s own is almost €30 which is extortionate for a tan! The Vita Liberata Body Blur Gift Bag comes two shades; medium and dark, and it contains a full size Body Blur and full size Fabulous Self Tanning Tinted Lotion as well as their Super Soft tanning mitt and rose gold toiletries bag. At just €37.50, I think it’s incredible value, as I said the Body Blur on its own comes to nearly that. Vita Liberata are the leaders in luxury tanning worldwide and if it’s good enough for the Victorias Secret models, then it’s good enough for someone that loves their tanning 😉
There are a gazillion make up palettes on the market right now, how are you meant to know which one to get – Sculpted by Aimee, the SoSu Highlight kit, the Flawless Smoky Palette, an Urban Decay classic or one of the Balm’s to-die-for palettes?!?! The list is literally endless! Well one that I have for a couple of weeks now and would repurchase in a heartbeat is the Stila Eyes Are The Window eyeshadow palette. It comes in 4 colour combinations; Mind, Body, Spirit and Soul and each contains 12 luxury shadows. I think the pigment is great, some of the more sparkly shadows are quite creamy and they can all be applied dry or wet – I dampen down my eyeshadow brush with some fixing spray and then pick up the product, I find it gives a really intense pigment and really makes the colours pop. There is a full size mirror in the palette too which is handy if you’re on the go. I purchased it in Sam McCauleys for €39
Novelty Stocking Fillers
When I listed my Gift Guide idea on Snapchat, a couple of people wanted some different ideas, inspiration for tomboys or girls that aren’t into fashion and beauty so there are some novelty gifts that I’ve found that would tick the box for any interests! Like these Rory’s Story Cubes – I think these would actually be a brilliant present and would create so much craic on Christmas day. Basically you roll the cubes and you have to make up a story from the images that have turned up on the dice and let your imagination run wild! What I love about these is that absolutely anyone can play with them, whatever age you are, from your little siblings to your grandparents, this is something everyone will get a laugh out of. There are loads of themed cubes in the Rory’s Story collection now too like Batman, Scooby Doo, Looney Tunes and Voyages to name but a few. The original Rory’s Story cubes retail at £9.99 and there are lots more options on their website.
We’re all guilty of bringing the laptop or tablet to bed with us and binging on a couple of episodes of our new favourite Netflix series or spending hours online window-shopping so this iBed Lap Desk is ideal and anyone that even owns a laptop needs one of these! They protect you from all the rays your laptop is letting out and the heat from the battery too, as well as looking very chic 😉 This one is by Kikkerland and is available from Debenhams for €17. You can use it at home, on the bus or a long flight and work away on your laptop in absolute comfort and there is an insert in it so you can stand your iPad or tablet – so handy!!
Finally, everyone needs a brand new diary or journal heading into the new year. Everything is organised and easily accessible in one place in this Smythson leather bound notebook. Now this is a luxury pressie for someone special from Net-A-Porter.com. They have 2017 diaries or notebooks with cute sayings on the front, like ‘Busy Bee’, ‘Fashionably Late’, (made for me!), ‘Inspirations and Ideas’ or ‘Mummy To Be’ but these luxe leather notepads are the ideal gift for the girl that has everything. They’re not the type of thing you would go out and buy for yourself so they’re perfect pressies! They start at €60 and come in a variety of colours and finishes.
I can’t believe Christmas is nearly here – let me know what’s on your wishlist on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or Snapchat and I’ll be back very soon with my next gift guide; I think I’m the most excited about that one so keep an eye out 😘
