It seems like the heatwave we’ve been experiencing in Ireland for the last few weeks has upped and left us. You’d be forgiven for thinking we were in the depths of winter again today. So it got me to thinking about the new season, fashion-wise of course. The thoughts of jumpers and jackets are enough to make you break out in a sweat, literally, right now. But in the world of fashion, they’re always one step ahead. I’m already seeing some winter essentials come in to work, so this post is focused all about the key trends for the season to come.
Animal Print
From the catwalks of Diane Von Furstenburg and Tom Ford, animal print is set to be a huge hit for AW18. You will probably have already seen it trickling in to retailers current offerings as this is a print that comes around every year, without fail!

Chances are you already have some key pieces to make the transition in to autumn even easier. It can be hit or miss, so the key to sporting this print is to remember that less is more. A little hint of leopard or zebra print can jazz up an otherwise plain outfit, and make it super trendy.
I love this animal print top from ZARA, and the bow detail on the shoulder really adds to the glam of it all. If you’re feeling brave, team it with a bold lip like they have in this snap, but it would look equally as nice dressed down with denims.
Winter Chic
Smart and chic, it is an eternally popular trend. Erdem really encapsulated this style in their showcasing for the season, with evening dresses worn under structured blazers.

A look that I really love every autumn especially, is that smart-casual, layered style. You can really put your own spin on it, whether is a more formal look for work or something really cool and laidback for the weekends. Think about a neutral colour palette with cool shades as opposed to warm. Roll necks are going to be back in soon and those tortoise shell button up shirts you’ve been seeing left right and centre are staying put! Just like this one from New Look. The rust shade screams autumnal glam but they come in lots of other colours including ivory and pale blue, for just €22.99
Button Front Shirt – €22.99 – New Look
High Neck Dress – €25.95 – ZARA
Tortoiseshell Earrings – €12 – PrettyLittleThing.com
Button Front Jumpsuit – €34.99 – New Look
Military Style Blazer – €54.00 – Missguided
White Ankle Boots – €79.95 – ZARA
Stone Jumpsuit – €34.99 – New Look
Double Breasted Coat – €129 – ZARA

Definitely found that winter chic has been so popular and is perfect for transitioning between seasons to play with dimensions and layers. And that Military Style Blazer from Missguided is so cute! Also, I think sequins and tulle are still very prevalent because I covered them over on my blog for seasons ago, and they are still showing up in recent shows!

Very popular and easy for all tastes to carry. Sequins are going to be huge again, especially more towards high winter, such a party style aren’t they! 🙂
